Album DescriptionONE NIGHT ON BROADWAY "I found more poetry in New York that night than in any other place I travelled to." - HORST HAMANN "910 -911. Exactly 12hrs, 162 blocks and 1500 images later I am physically exhausted. The accu's of my Leica are empty but the batteries of my mind and soul are fully recharged. The City is alive. The family of New Yorkers who gather the streets feel stronger and more united than ever. Broadway is still pumping tirelessly fresh blood and energy into Goliath's heartbeat. For almost one year now my perception is tuned into the night lights of New York. Last night on Broadway I felt like a conductor, orchestrating the endless spectrum of color and movement. Every time I released the shutter I received a new melody of colors and temperatures. It was almost like painting with my camera." Recap: On the night of September 10th to the 11th, 2002, photographer Horst Hamann completed a special book project walking down Broadway with his handheld Leica Digilux digital camera documenting one night in the life of New York City's Great White Way, one year after 9/11. Hamann began his marathon walk at sunset, in Harlem, and proceeded south to Battery Park stopping at ground zero, crossing Broadway at random as he followed his visual instincts to capture the state of mind of Manhattan one year after the tragic events of September 11. Horst Hamann has photographed New York City for the past 23 years. It took him five years to get a grip on the overwhelming impact New York has on a visual person and to digest and reflect his personal views of the metropolis. Besides the exciting and tremendous choise of music on "N.Y. Lounge 2 - One Night On Broadway", DJ Red Buddha also used some voices of New Yorkers, that Adolfo Doering recorded during the photo marathon, stating their own personal experience during the happenings of September 11, 2001. Soleil Niklasson from Los Angeles and singer from the band Hermosa, expresses her feelings of this day in the song "Angel of Mercy". Being a genuine New Yorker, Guru Jazzmatazz starts the compilation with his track "Loungin'", using this opener to transport the New York feeling right from the start. Formations such as Thievery Corporation or Working Week, the remix from Vangelis "Love Theme" from the movie Blade Runner or Jazzamors track "Summertime" and even DJ DMD's "Ghetto Gold" feat. Momo & Bluelite shift the listener into the position of being able to feel the exciting atmosphere of "One Night On Broadway" and almost experience the photographs of Horst Hamann come alive.
