Decent, but not outstanding...

"I suppose that just about sums up the long and short of this release. It's ok, but definitely geared more towards electroclash than anything else. The moment it starts off it sounds as if LA Style (of the infamous early-90's "James Brown is Dead") or EON (of the same era's "The Spice Must Flow" fame) has remixed and re-vamped some lost Pointer Sister's or Sigue Sigue Sputnik song. It gets better, but not by a huge amount. The very next song rips the bassline straight from "If you gonna ride, ride the white...." - you know the score. It just adds some etheral, almost Cocteau Twins vocals for a bit of a better effect. But then, back to the DJ Hell-esque rhythms of something that Nitzer Ebb was doing 15 years ago (although, without the aggression that made Nitzer Ebb - at least, in its early days - so incredibly lovely)- or God forbid, Kraftwerk, doing 25 years ago.In short, it's an up and down ride. Eighteenth Street Lounge, Compost, Electrolux or !K7 (or even Stereo Deluxe) label followers don't get your hopes up - the inclusion of Boozoo Bajou or Trio Electrico (NOT Truby Trio as Amazon refers to) does not save this cd set or bring it within that to which you may be accustomed. The bottom line is that this is a middle-of-the-road Electroclash compilation that features a little slightly more obscure artists that would otherwise be found. If that's what you're looking for, look no further. I think this just falls short of what it aspired to be.However, if you're looking for something else or something a little more downtempo-ish, you'd do better to check out the "Future Sounds of Jazz" series on the always-fantastic Compost label, any of the Space Night or Ambient Diary series on the German Electrolux label (or any of it's artists such as Estelle Montenegro, Quantum Leap, etc.), or anything on ESL or !K7.Hope this helps somewhat."
