Techno attitude and death metal rolled into one

(5 out of 5 stars)

"The 1995 Mortal Kombat Soundtrack is my favorite soundtrack of all time. Why? Never before have I experienced such an assortment of extremely talented musicians collaborating to form an album that's full of energy, attitude, melody, and complexity. All 17 tracks are stellar, and range from melodic techno songs to in- your- face thrash/death metal that feeds on every man's bad day. Prior to this album, I wasn't a fan of techno music, or even death metal, for that matter. However, the songs have a way of grabbing the listener, and trigger the imagination--not necessarily from the movie, but everyday imagination. I absolutely love track #9 (Zero Signal), as it's powerful, angry, but has depth to it. As for the techno songs, I like track #6 (Halcyon and On and On). It's over 9 minutes, but doesn't get boring. It starts slow, builds energy, then slows down again. Track #4 (Unlearn) is another techno standout with a good beat and movement. I particularly like the bass drumming on this one. Other standouts include track # 11 (Blood and Fire, track #13 (Twist the Knife (Slowly)), and track #14 (What U See). Of course, the icing on the cake is the theme song, Techno Syndrome, or the version from the Utah Saints. Buy this CD, and you won't be disappointed--I promise!!! 10/10"
