'Real' to an extent.

"Once again we are presented with a compilation album that claims to capture the real essence of UK garage. We are constantly inundated with titles claiming to be 'underground', 'real'or 'pure', but most of the time the content is laced with strange tracks that are either five years old or a 'garage' mix of a house tune. And then you get the tracks that no-one on the garage scene has ever heard of in their entire lives. Real garage no doubt fulfills its name to quite a large extent - say 65% which I have to say is a lot better than most. It contains all the tunes that are currently tearing dance floors to shreds in London garage clubs such as Nicole's Groove, Booo! by MC Dynamite and Boom Selection among others. There are also additions from quality names on the scene like the So Solid Crew, MC Viper and Wookie. It's all mixed together smoothly by heavyweight Masterstepz who never fails to get a crowd going at any rave. The oldest and most commercial track on the album is Body Groove by the Architechs which although it has been played out and can get annoying is still quite a catchy one. Unfortunately the bogus tracks described earlier are still present in all their glory. Some do have potential but others there is just no need for whatsoever and take up much more room than is necessary. I could have replaced each and every one of them with a much better tune.To wrap it up, Real Garage is definitely worth an investment as it one of the best of its kind on the market. Also, a lot of the wicked tracks on it are only alternatively available on vinyl and lets face it as much as we'd like to be we're not all DJs."
