CD Reviews

A Less Than Satisfying Collection
Steve Vrana | Aurora, NE | 02/04/2002
(3 out of 5 stars)

"Five stars for the music...one star for the limited song selection. Picking up this sparse sampling of Motown classics is a bit like sending a starving man through a buffet line and handing him only a saucer plate. Sure he'll enjoy what he gets, but he won't be entirely satisfied. Motown has such a rich legacy--even into the Seventies--that a mere 12 songs barely scratches the surface. And where are 70's superstars like Stevie Wonder and Diana Ross? Also, take a close look at the track listing. Only three of these songs were released after 1973: "Walk Away from Love" (1975), "Don't Leave Me This Way" (1977) and "Easy" (1977). With a running time of 53:36, there certainly was room for another half dozen tracks."
Nice collection of 1970's Motown Super Hits... A Must
ARMANDO R. VENEGAS | Lima, Peru | 03/03/2009
(4 out of 5 stars)

"On this CD you will find Smokey Robinson and The Miracles' "The Tears Of A Clown", which is certainly a SOUL MUSIC JEWEL.

Also, you will find "You Can't Turn Me Off (In The Middle Of Turning Me On)" a marvelous song by a noticeable female trio, HIGH INERGY... Supposed to become the successor 'Famous Female Soul Trio' for Diana Ross & The Supremes. It seems it was another 'One-Hit Wonder' group, but the song itself, is simply MARVELOUS...!!!!

All the other songs are also superb... But the two previosuly mentioned, make this CD worth to be included in your CD collection."
