Album DescriptionIt's Mastercuts but not as we know it!Same quality tracks, same sumptuous packaging, same detailed sleeve notes BUT two CDs and it's mixed! In other words we're making Mastercuts for the next generation and they demand a little bit more. The whole phenomena that has exploded in pre-club bars around the globe has had a huge impact on the tastes of the record buying public. Not so many years ago the world was dancing in it's little cliques as clubs maintained their fascist music policies. Now the new breed is here and out of the bars has come a whole new freestyle, anything goes attitude that hasmademany of the best nights out rocking down your local boozer. Sure there is a history to this style and the Balearic freedom of Alfredo in Ibiza, the eclectic attitude of the Chemicals at the Heavenly Social and perhaps most importantly of all the soulful open mindedness of Norman Jay's legendary Good Timeshave all helped shape the sound. If there is a shared philosophy it is to take the best of everything new and old to create something original and exciting. On this the first Mastercuts Bar Social the only rule is that the tracks are of highest quality and put a huge grin on the punters faces. It's all there from deep house (Norma Jean Belle) to Reggae (Althia&Donna), contemporary R'n'B (Mary Blige) to old skool hip-hop (Cash Money and Marvellous) not to mention some of the biggest names in dance music old and new - Stevie Wonder, Massive Attack, De La Soul,Roy Ayres, Groove Armada, Frankie Knuckles, the list goes on.
