Synopsis

Album Description
The latest Almighty album release is the cleverly compiled tribute to the fabulous, timeless and inspirational era that was DISCO - 'WE LOVE DISCO'. This stunning 2 CD set includes 30 tracks - it combines genuine Disco classics, some very select and titles and some of Almighty's own disco reworkings. The highlights include brand new and exclusive remixes of 3 Disco classics by Thelma Houston, Tata Vega and Donna Summer. This could very possibly be THE first ever continuously mixed disco CD. Also includes Chic, Alicia Bridges, Sister Sledge, Change, Stacy Latislaw, Dan Hartman, Grace Jones, Harry Thuman and more. 30 tracks. Almighty. 2005.

Incedibly mixed set of disco...but I feel scammed...

"Nice mix of disco...but I feel scammed...

Considering it was being released by the almighty guys, I was under the impression this was going to be a disc of almighty mixes and re-recordings of old disco records. There are only THREE remixes by almighty, including Tata Vega, Thelma Houston and Donna Summer. The remaining tracks are all originals. The sound quality has never been better on some of these tracks, BUT here's my huge problem with this disc. On the liner notes, the almighty team goes on and on about how so many disco compilations don't show appreciation to the 12" single versions, and that they will strive to use the club lengths in all their mixes. So what went wrong here??? Almost all tracks on this disc run about 4 minutes or less!!!! And since they are all segued together, when they DO use a long version, it's been reworked at the beginning and the end in order to mix into the next song. Great disc for parties perhaps, but a pretty useless collection for purist dance music collectors. What's the purpose of finding a gem like the 12" version of Stacy lattisaw's Jump to the Beat on disc, only to discover it's segued with two other tracks? Track times:

Where Are The 12" Versions
Daniel W. Kelly | 05/14/2007
(2 out of 5 stars)

"The Almighty group states that this hard to find 12" versions, but they may have cut down from the 12" version, but 80% of these songs have been edited down to about 4 minutes or less. This was a big disappointment."
