The best of classic Cuban music

"If you wondered what the stars of Buena Vista Social Club might have sounded like in their hey day, this album will give you a glimpse. The fidelity of the album is excellent, a surprise since it actually was recorded in The Bodeguita del Medio just prior to the revolution. Having gone to Cuba 'for the music', this album is a top 5 in my collection -- and I have them all."
Being in Havanna

"When you listen to this CD and you close your eyes, you's see yourself sitting in a café somewhere in Havanna. The sound of the 50's the smoke of the sigars and the pretty young girls dancing.Although the quality of the sound isn't what we are used nowadays, the producers dit a great job to make it worth listening. The songs are very cheerfull and sometimes melodramatic. They are recorded at the time that Cuba wasn's suffering from embargo's and is was a rich country. This you can hear from the songs. If you like old Cuban music, put on this CD, sit outside your house with a glas of rum (on someting not-alcoholic if you prefer) and just let you get carried away by the music."
Carlos Puebla gets my vote!

"'A music fan from Washington, DC USA' should realise that not everyone shares the American paranoid view of Cuba. If you think this is good, then listen to the CDs of Carlos Puebla's revolutionary music. Americans, listen and try to understand, if you are big enough."
