When in January 30th of this year, the new owners MoS (which their releases I hate the most) announced in HK's official website "A NEW ERA" and promised kandi lovers that the party will go on, this guys were not lying; the latest compilations are simple beautiful!!! (Well, at least so far, so good). Like "World Series: Live Paris" and "Twisted Disco 03.06", "Swing City" can't prove any different.
As you may have read somewhere, this album was released to celebrate the 10th anniversary of SWING CITY label, showing once again the great innovating ideas that the new owner label has in mind, as they did with the re-launch of the "World Series".
This is one of the funkiest and most soulful collection of greatest hits ever, compiled and mixed by Grant Thomas due to the occasion. CD 1 it's a delicious mix of Latin and Funky House, featuring tracks from Negrocan, Grant Nelson and, Soulfuric's brilliant Dj, Brian Tappert among others. Wonderful Hits like "Aquela Esquina", "En la Piscina" and "Teus Olhos", fill up this first CD with a splendorous brazilian feeling that actually makes you feel like in Rio.
In the same path, CD 2 starts its journey with a remix of Negrocan's "Cada Vez Que Te Veo" and then takes you slowly to more electronic, but still funky, tracks in its middle part. This CD also includes a little bit of disco sounds. Finally, CD 3 gets jazzier by adding lots of piano, presenting a more relaxed sound and some "old school" tracks.
Even though my commentary might seem too exaggerated, pretty much as the ones you hear on a TV's infomercial,I'm sure that you will agree with me once you hear what this album is about. With compilations like these, seems like we'll be dancing and enjoying Hed Kandi's as we did in its greatest days.
