"Mark Doyle has truly compiled a masterpiece of garage and disco-house that is equal parts retro and nouveau. "Disco Kandi 05.02" comes as a breath of fresh air (especially when one remembers the disappointing "Disco Kandi 5").Both discs are appealing, though CD1 seems a bit more diverse, with dubs as well as vocal tracks. The standouts from CD1 are Deepstar's "Sugar", II Padrinos feat. Jocelyn Brown's "That's How Good Your Love Is", Fuel's "Do 4 Love" and Dirty Tricks vs. The Turnatable Orchestra's "Gonna Miss Me" (a novel track on CD1 is T Ski Valley's "Catch the Beat", remixed by Dimi and Mousse T, which harkens back to Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight"). CD2's standouts are Syke 'N' Sugastarr's "Release Your Mind" and Tim Deluxe feat. Sam Obernick's "It just Won't Do". As far as remix talent goes, Joey Negro turns in a mix of Raven Maize's "Fascinated" and Mousse T. makes several appearances throughout the collection, as a remixer, producer and performer. As any club enthusiast knows, the music isn't just about the beat, it's about melody, attitude and feeling; "Disco Kandi 05.02" has those qualities and then some."

"With a name like "Disco Kandi," it takes no rocket scientist to figure out what the CD is going to sound like. Offering two discs of thumping and energetic grooves, "Disco Kandi" is a classy set of neo-disco and house compiled with love by Mark Doyle. You'll be bobbing your head to the beats of delicious club nuggets like the Full Intention remix of the popular anthem "Follow Me," a respectable cover of Patrice Rushen's 1980s "Haven't You Heard," and the groovy bite of "Sugar" by Deepstar. Other interesting tracks are the cover of Prince's "I Would Die 4 U" by The Space Cowboy and "Fire" by Mousse T. featuring Emma Lanford. But the real eye-opener is the first track of Disc 2, which has a weird but intriguing dance remake of "Because," an "Abbey Road" album track by the Beatles. Like virtually all Hed Kandi compilations, "Disco Kandi" isn't a mix CD, so the tracks appear in their full-length extended versions. If your party could use some spicing up or if you want a good disc to work out to, then it's time for a little disco flava from the family at Hed Kandi."

"The latest compilation from the Hed Kandi series concentrates on solid Disco jams, as the album sleeve describes it is a glittering selection of the sexiest disco house and uplifting U.S. Garage. The compilation includes Space Cowboy, Hakan Lidbo, Raven Maize, Mousse T, Fuel, Deepstar, War, and more. The songs will keep you on your feet and dancing, they perfectly intertwine into each other. Some of my favorite jams include "Because" by HiFi Serious, "I Would Die 4 U" (12" Mix) by Space Cowboy, "Do 4 Love" by Fuel, and "Dove (I'll Be Loving You)" by Moony. Overall if you are a fan of disco, house, or garage, here is a compilation that is sure to please the hardcore fans, even myself."

"This is a fun compilation in the Disco Kandi series. The songs are the perfect soundtrack for a Saturday night, or any party. Keep you moving, the songs will stay in your head. Disc one kicks off with the funky Love Theme (Party) by (Love) Tattoo. Deepstar's "Sugar" is a highlight as is "That's How Good Your Love Is" by Il Padrions feat Jocelyn Brown, "Do 4 Love" by Fuel, Fac 15 feat Cathi Ogden on "Haven't You Heard". Disc one is closed out with the excellent "Dove (I'll Be Loving You)" by Moony, which is a highlight. Some highlights on disc two include "Because" by HiFi Serious, "Galaxy 2000" by War, a great cover of Prince's "I Would Die 4 U" done by The Space Cowboy, "Fire" by Mousse T feat Emma Lanford and many others."
