Album Description2 CD set. First airing on the 1st of December 1993, JOY; 94.9 FM Melbourne was and is Australia's only gay & lesbian radio station. Broadcasting as a community radio station with a 90 day test license they have since become a massive community channel with an estimated audience of 100,000 from all over Australia. Up until 2001, JOY FM was purely a part time program which shared its frequency with other programs of unrelated subject matter. It was only in 2001 that JOY became a 24/7 frequency, and this massive achievement was because of so much local support from so many in the community appreciating the gay & lesbian free speech channel. Although coming from such a topical radio station this compilation is nothing but for the music. I really enjoyed this one because it featured a broad mix of the tunes that are and where a big part of 2004 & 2005. Many played in clubs and heard in hundreds of house parties, all while being consistently played on most radio frequencies towards the earlier hours of morning. So moving past whom, when and why, and looking purely at the music, this compilation is definitely one to own. Central Station. 2005.
