"This wonderful concert was recorded in June, 1972, just a few weeks after I saw Ella give one of the greatest concerts I have ever heard at Carnegie Hall. I came to the CDs with mush anticipation, also fear that she could not possible be as good as I remember her. Well, Ella is fantasic. Her interaction with the other famous musician is breathtaking. I have over 700 CDs and would rate this set in the top 10."

"Personally rate this as my choice of the best jazz that I've ever heard. Do happen to like traditional type jazz more than bebop ('Chinese' music according to Louis Armstrong). In My Humble Opinion (IMHO), some of the Ella Fitzgerald tracks border on the sublime. Also, IMHO, Roy Eldridge's trumpet playing is fantastic. Wonder why we hear so much of Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Guilliespe, Wynton Marsalis and not enough of Roy Eldridge, who I consider to be one of the best horn players of all time?"
