A great collection of Aussie punk and post punk

"There has been several recent compilations exposing what was a very prolific and creative period in Australian independent music - the 70s and 80s. Until recently, this great music remained obscure and unknown outside the circle of hard core fans that still treasure the original 7 inch singles. This has been somewhat addressed by the "Do The Pop", "Tales of The Underground" and "Born Out Of Time" collections. However, Inner City Sound has a wider musical vision than just the "Darlinghurst as a suburb of Detroit" approach of the other admittedly excellent compilations. It also includes more of the Melbourne scene that spawned Nick Cave (an obscure demo of Cave's first band is included). Better known bands (Hunters & Collectors, Go Betweens and the Saints) rub shoulders with one hit wonders and a couple of otherwise impossible to find classics like XL Capris' My City of Sydney. Worth every cent."
