Steve S. (Reno-ness) from ARROYO GRANDE, CA Reviewed on 12/26/2008...
After energetically watching this series on TV and DVD, the soundtrack was a great idea. Look at the track list, as deep as the doctor. Lucinda's tune is beautiful, Elvis does "Beautiful" and the theme song in its entirety is very nice. It's as sharp as House, endowed as Cuddy, wistful as Cameron, nutty as Chase, 'hood as Foreman, and friendly like Wilson. "You Can't Always Get What You Want" is the only weakness on the album since it doesn't involve the original artists, but a garage band with series star Hugh Laurie on keyboards.

Eccentric, but brilliant...

"Just like Dr. House himself, the soundtrack to the hit TV series manages to be both eclectic and brilliant, with a definite edge. The TV show frequently features a song that captures the feel of the episode, and this collection presents a representative selection of those pieces.
The album features some amazing tracks -- Michael Penn's "Walter Reed" is a bittersweet yet powerful ballad. Amazingly enough, Elvis Costello's cover of Christina Aguilara's "Beautiful" manages to work despite its unlikely heritage. The final song, a cover of the Stones classic "You Can't Always Get What You Want" featuring Hugh Laurie (Dr. House), Greg Grunberg (of "Heroes") and several other TV notables adds a nice laid-back feel to the album. Of course, the main title theme, Massive Attack's "Teardrop" leads off the album -- those who have never heard the full track will find it to be a great chillout piece on its own right.
Like the show, the mood of the soundtrack is often less than cheerful. However, there isn't a bad track on the album, and some of the tracks are incredibly poignant. "Walter Reed" is rapidly becoming one of my personal favorites. This isn't necessarily an uplifting soundtrack, but fans of the show will enjoy the selection of pieces evocative of one of television's best shows.
Amazon's digital download technology works flawlessly, even on a Mac. The Amazon downloader even helpfully deposited all the songs into iTunes. The low cost, lack of restrictive DRM, and hassle-free downloading make Amazon's MP3 Downloads the best digital download service on the net."
However it is only 12 musical cuts, including Tear Drop (the Theme from House) by Massive Attack. I wanted a few House-isms with his satire and wit, sprinkled in this CD..However this was not to pass.
The CD seems too quick and I needed to more. However, the last cut on this CD seems to answer me when I say I want more, and it is like House speaking to me musically... You Can't Always Get What You Want, performed by Hugh Lurie's band, Band from TV
The soundtrack is not a hit driven musical pieces. These 12 cuts fit the House tome. The music is somber and bittersweet, just like the show. A problem is they dont say what episode these songs were it..that still doesn't mean the music isnt good
If you heard this soundtrack and never knew It was The House MD soundtrack, you will enjoy the music just the same..and that is what you buy a CD for

"Just as it reads above the soundtrack has finally come out! I admit I wish they had more songs on here or released the music by season, but still the selections they have are quite nice. I'm really happy to see "Beautiful" by Elvis Costello on here as I thought he did a fabulous cover of the song! All in all a good mix, but if you have a favorite and just want the one I'd head over to iTunes.
Check out the official House website on Fox and get a free download from the album!
Also, if you interested in the songs from the show and like iTunes check out my iMix which is updated to Season Five. Type in: Fox House M.D. TV Soundtrack

Well worth it especially Teardrop

"Teardrop as a lead-in to "House" is just a tease. The actual song is awesome, and the lead singer's voice is both beautiful and most unusual. I did not realize until we received it, that there are a load of great songs on this CD, including Joe Cocker's "Feeling Alright", "You Can't Always Get What You Want", "Walter Reed" by Michael Penn, and one that is guaranteed to make you cry "Waiting on an Angel" by Ben Harper. Like the title for the review says "well worth it"."
Pretty good

"This cd includes "Teardrop" by Massive Attack, which is the opening theme to the show, and "See the world" by Gomez, which, I think, is the "Firing song" (Which seems to what people refer to it as on youtube) (To spare some spoilers for those of you who are not that far along in the series, I will not go into much more detail :-) ). Anyway, those two, and Elvis Costello's "Beautiful", are what I was hoping to get from in this cd. For the most part, I consider most of the songs to run along the lines of "squishy" (a better term exists, just do not know it at the moment, maybe "soothing"?). Basically, these are all slow songs with a pretty good beat, nothing hard rock, IMO. Hope this helps, somehow."
