Synopsis

Album Description
This album is your introduction to the current Irish music scene in Chicago. You will hear nationally recognized talent expressing the music in a variety of stylistic approaches -- from traditional instrumentation with flute, bodhrans and uilleann pipes to more contemporary sounds with electric guitars and even a full string orchestra. As a special value, the CD includes a "PUB LOCATOR MAP" which will guide you 23 of the leading Chicago area venues that feature live Irish music every night of the week.

CD Reviews

One song on this CD is worth the price of the whole thing!
Gerald Joyce | Chicago, IL USA | 02/16/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Aine Meenaghan's This night is dark (In Irish) is wonderful. I have often wondered why no record company in America has seen fit to issue a CD comprised entirely of traditional Irish singers who reside in the US. Of all the Irish musical styles it is perhaps the purest, but for some strange reason the least exposed and understood. Surely there are enough great singers in Chicago, Boston, New York, etc. to produce many CDs. As for this one, this one song convinced me it was a great purchase."
