"The title said "A Collection of the Finest Female Vocals in Ethereal, Darkwave and Gothic." When I read "gothic," such bands as The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and the Psychedelic Furs immediately came to mind. But when I listened to the album, I discovered the music was closer to Dead Can Dance and Enigma than any of the other (rock-oriented) bands just mentioned. This album blends enticing vocals with drifting and subtle melodies. It's a great album to sit back, relax, and drink a glass of wine to."
Strange and beautiful collection

"I came upon this album by accident and am glad I did.The first few listenings might have you thinking that it isn't anything special. You may even stick it in the closet for a few months.Over time though this cd grows on you.It sounds so odd and different from the usual garbage that floods the airwaves and music channels these days,so at first it seems too strange.Listen to "Pure Hands" by Rise and fall of a decade and you know you're in for something unique."Ginger Remix" by Chandeen is also a great song. The masterpiece of the album may be the bleak but unbearably gorgeous "Swan Song" by Sleeping Dogs Wake. Most if not all these bands are European and are virtually unknown in America. But if this album is any indication these are bands well worth exploring. If you are looking for something different look no further."
The Heavenly Voices Series is Amazing

"I first heard Heavenly Voices at a friend's house and in an instant, I was enamored with its content. Never before had I listened to a compilation album and liked the vast majority of the tracks. Usually, you have to buy a CD with mostly unwanted tracks and you have to accept the fact that there is no other way of obtaining the songs you do want. Hyperion did an excellent job with the entire series (yes there are a total of 4 separate albums entitled Heavely Voices, starting with Volume 1 and continuing on) and I hope to see more volumes soon. These albums are the epitome of "Ethereal" music."
An absolutely incredible disk

"You might scoff at the "10" above, but don't. "Heavenly Voices" is a best of best of album. Hyperion Records produced four "Heavenly Voices" volumes of compellation ethereal voice, female vocals. This album distills those four down into one seventy-three minute festival of sound. Non-goths listen to it and like it, sometimes as much as they do more mainstream Enya. An absolutely excellent disk, one which I paid full price for AND WAS HAPPY TO HAVE DONE SO. A good gift featuring bands such as Chandeen, Stoa, Die Form and more. If you like female vocals, you will like this album."
