Album DescriptionThis collection presents a sampling of the many sounds produced throughout traditional Armenia and the Middle East. American Recording Productions has been producing this type of music since 1991, with the intention to create global awareness of the traditional elements of Middle Eastern music. Many musical compilations produced rarely devote much attention to music of Armenian ancestry or the Middle East. Virtually forgotten in many instances, the music presented here in large part has been brought to the United States from a mixture of regions and kept alive by the American born musicians. This collection represents sounds new and old, but one thing is constant - the music presented here is still alive and continues to flourish throughout the world. The musicians on this album have made large contributions to their music and ethnicity, believing in preserving and allowing all to hear and see for future generations. The selections of tracks included on this compilation were carefully picked in order to give the listener a balance between cultures and style. Near Eastern Ride and Khnjook! are very popular titles amongst the Armenian-American generations due to its influence of energetic dance music. Mystical Veil and Danse Orientale Project highlight music performed throughout the belly dance circuits. Stringed Tranquility and Full Circle display certain musician talents and include original songs and arrangements of folk songs. For The Children of Armenia was originally produced to raise funds for a pre-natal clinic in Armenia. The album raised over $20,000 for the clinic. One Man's Passion is a reissue recording of the great oudist George Mgrdichian and the recording is reminiscent of music performed in the nightclubs of New York City.
