Album Description2009 collection. The prototype Hammond Organ was introduced to the American public, in April 1935 by engineer Laurens Hammond. The relatively low cost of his invention by comparison with a pipe organ made it an immediately attractive proposition to churches, theatres, cinemas, private homes and, especially in the United States, radio stations. Later models have continued to be built until the present time, with the Hammond Organ Company now owned by the multi-national Suzuki more producing digital versions said to sonically close the original Hammond models. Over the decades, Jazz musicians, and a variety of Blues, Rock and Gospel performers have been drawn to the instrument. 28 tracks including cuts from Ken Griffin, Harry Farmer, Ethel Smith, Chris Hamalton & His Hammond Organs, Milt Herth and others. Bygone Days.
