"As a sax player, I have never found such a good collection spanning the very late '50s and learly '60s for blues/funk sax by the great practitioners of the genre from that era. Some of the musicians include Gene Ammons, Jimmy Forrest (Night Train), Rusty Bryant (who rarely toured), Willis Gator Jackson, Stanley Turrentine, Houston Person, and sidemen Bernard Purdie, Joe Zawinul & Jack McDuff...need I say more? (You've also got the Atlantic Records rhythm section used on King Curtis and Aretha Franklin Live at the Fillmore albums.)It was compiled by award winning record producer Bob Porter, a recognized authority in this area and WBGO (best jazz station in the US!!) special shows DJ.I used this CD to better learn how to play in this style. I could go on and on, but I'll just say this: Buy it and get a very enjoyable education."
