"80's freestyle dance music at its best. The late 80's mega-huge dance hits DIAMOND GIRL, CATCH ME I'M FALLING, LET THE MUSIC PLAY, TAKE IT WHILE IT'S HOT and POINT OF NO RETURN alone are worth the price of the album, but you also get I CAN'T WAIT, LOVE LETTER, ONE WAY LOVE, SENDING ALL MY LOVE, FASCINATED, and FOR TONIGHT. The other songs are not very good, but so what. Be sure to check out Volumes 2, 3, and 4."
One of the best Freestyle CDs!!!

"If you are someone that loves to dance, then this CD is for you. It includes everything from "Let The Music Play" by shannon to "One Way Love" by TKA. There are so many great songs on this CD. My favorite song on the whole CD is "I Can't Wait" by Nu Shooz."

Good but "Great"?

"I was at the University of Maryland when freestyle hit the airwaves and it slapped me in the ear like a furious ex-girlfriend. It was nothing I had ever heard before. The strong, vibrant beat; the Latin flavor; the neaveau electronic sound was intoxicating.
In the DC/Baltimore area, only two stations played it and it was restricted to Saturday night. Nevertheless, I was overwhelmed with it.
This CD brings back a slice of those "Spring" days, when times were simple and possibilities were endless.
I believe this compilation is good, but some of the tracks are by average freestyle artists. As much as I love freestyle, just like with any other genre of music, there is great freestyle, there is average freestyle and there is bad freestyle. I don't detect any real bad freestyle on this CD but the tracks, "Did It Feel Like Love" by Genuine Parts, "One Way Love" by TKA and Nancy Martinez as a whole are average at best.
Making up for that is the sultry, sexy, gloriously harmonized voices of the heavily Latina flavored Sweet Sensation, who include the sexy Betty LeBron and sisters Margie and Mari Fernandez, with the track "Take it While it's Hot". This is arguably one of the all-time great freestyle songs ever recorded, especially the remix version. The Supremes would be proud of their flawless, velvety harmonizing. Add to that "C" Bank featuring the dark, haunting vocals of Jenny Burton; the cotton candy sound of Company B and Promise Circle, GIGGLES, Pretty Poison and the queen of Freestyle, Shannon and you have a very good compilation. Also, I would like to have heard the remix (long) version of several of these tracks.
Note: Back when this genre of music came out we called it "Club or Dance music" in the DC/Balt. area. I had never heard the term "Freestyle" associated with it until lately.
My fellow hardcore freestyle fans may want to kabob me over an open pit for my blasphemous critique. Overall, this is a good compilation of freestyle tracks that could have been a tad better.
I recommend it... with the aforementioned cautions.
