An awesome spread of great bands -- I have become fans of a lot of these bands because of this soundtrack. Compilations of metal just don't get better than this!!!

Same music, different artwork

The best movie soundtrack I've ever heard!

"I'm not going to type a long review explaining it, so I'll just do a track listing.



1.ill nino-How Can I Live:5/5 Great song from a great band.



2.Killswitch Engage-When Darkness Falls:5/5 Starts out real fast and heavy, but slows way down and gets really medolic. Great mix of fast and slow.



3.Spineshank-The Beggining of the End:4/5 One of the slower songs, but really catchy and it will probably get stuck in your head.



4.Mushroomhead-Sun Doesn't Rise:5/5 Another good song from a really cool band. Catchy.



5.Hatebreed-Condemned untill Rebirth:4/5 I'm not a big fan of "hardcore" metal, but this is another catchy song.



6.Slipknot-Snap:3/5 Slipknot is one of my favorite nu-metal bands but, this song is really repetitve and annoying. But, it's an unrealeased track from them so if your a 'knot fan, it's just cool to hear it.



7.Chimara-Army of Me:4/5 I really like Chimera but they have better songs. Still a damn good listen though.



8.From Autumn to Ashes-The After Dinner Payback:4/5 I dont really like this band much but this song is pretty good. Classic metalcore.



9.Sevendust-Leech:5/5 Your typical Sevendust song.



10.Powerman 5000-Bombshell:3/5 I don't like their style of metal that much but this song is alright.



11.Murderdolls-Welcone to the Strange:3/5 Again, I don't really like this band but this song is OK.



12.Seether-Out of My Way:4/5 surprisingly good for Seether.Super catchy.



13.Stone Sour-Insidehe Cynic:5/5 It's Cory Taylor other band, of course it's going to be good.



14.Devildriver-Swinging the Dead:5/5 Take Coal Chamber vocalist and put him into a better, harder hitting band. AWESOME!



15.Sepultra-The Waste:5/5 Not your Typical Sepultra, much slower, but still great.



16.The Blank Theory-Middle of Nowhere:4/5 Good but not great.



17.Nothingface-Ether:5/5 Slow, but still an awesome song from a great band.



18.In Flames-Trigger:6/5 One of my favorite songs from my favorite band. Fast and melodic. Classic IF.



19.Lamb of God-11th Hour:10/5 Its Lamb of God at their finest.





20.Type O' Negative-We were(electocute)4/5 Maybe the slowest song on the CD but still a good listen.



Once again, the greatest soundtrack ever."

A sick soundtrack to a sick movie!

"Movies like Freddy and Jason are expected to have soundtracks like this one. There's no rap, no light rock/ballads and no techno. It's similar to "Headbanger's Ball", but this C.D. seems to be almost a sampler of every band connected to Road Runner Records.

This soundtrack is every metalhead's dream. Just because it's all heavy, doesn't mean there's no variety. There's something on here for everyone who enjoys hard music. There's nu-metal (Powerman 5000, Ill Nino), melodic metal (Spineshank), metalcore (Killswitch Engage), hard rock (Seether), veterans to the metal scene (Type O Negative, Sepultura), hardcore (Hatebreed), thrash influenced metal (Lamb of God, Devildriver) gothic metal (Murderdolls), and even this "New Wave of American Heavy Metal" thing (Chimaira, In Flames). There are probably even a few metal bands you haven't heard or heard of (The Blank Theory, Nothingface).

By now, metalheads should be licking their chops and preparing for a butt kicking.



Highlights include:



"How Can I Live" combines hard rock (vaguely reminiscent of P.O.D.) with melodic vocals (for the most part) and tribal drums. A good, catchy nu-metal tune that perfectly mixes together different sounds. If you're new to Ill Nino, I recommend you start here.

"When Darkness Falls" would have made a good opening track. The first thirty-or-so seconds are a really heavy onslaught that tears the listener's head off. The song then adds melody (the rest of the song is a lot more melodic), but metal riffs return every now and then. The lyrics are quite repetitive, but the music and vocals change frequently. It's kind of weird and random, but the singer's surprisingly soulful voice make it all come together well.

"Beginning of the End" is the most melodic and radio friendly

song on here. The Deftones-esque rock is fairly hard, but the singer's nice, non-violent voice (which even soars at times) keeps the song melodic. A pretty good song.

"Sun Doesn't Rise" is a good listen, and that's it. This song is from Mushroomhead's new album, but it could have fit in perfectly with the last. There are dual vocals (with one guy sounding like he's vomiting, at times) and pretty unimpressive guitars and drums; but it's catchy enough to be a good listen if you don't overanalyze it.

"Snap" is Slipknot at an infant stage (from 1997). This isn't as hard as Slipknot usually are, and this song sounds somewhat silly (it repeats the same line over and over: "I'm gonna snap, gonna snap..."), but it's catchy and Slipknot fans will eat it up.

"Army of Me" and "The After Dinner Payback" are both really speedy and hard. From Autumn to Ashes prove to be surprisingly heavy, with almost monstrous vocals and instruments.

"Leech" is a fairly typical Sevendust song. Sevendust's robust sound includes their famous hard rock (crunchy guitars) coupled with soulful vocals and, at times, pretty music. A good, catchy song.

"Bombshell" isn't listed as "previously unreleased", because it was released on PM5K's "Anyone for Doomsday" C.D. But since it was pulled, there are very few copies of it floating around. Some songs from it, like "Bombshell", were released only to soundtracks. So, for all intensive purposes, "Bombshell" is new. It's also a pretty awesome song. A wee-, bit of techno finds its way into the beginning and before the choruses, but "Bombshell" is a very energetic, hook infested, hard rocking, head banging, mosh-pit swirling song. The huge choruses are a big part of it, but this song is a lot harder and catchier than anything on PM5K's new "Transform."

"Welcome to the Strange" sounds like what the Murderdolls sound like. It sounds sort of like a speedy Marilyn Manson, mixed with glam rock. The vocals don't quite snarl, but don't sing either. It's a pretty weird song, but pretty catchy, too.

"11th Hour" makes up for the lack of Deicide on this soundtrack. It is by far the hardest song on here; with monstrous vocals, guitars and double-bass pedals throughout make a huge wall of very hard metal. I can just imagine Freddy and Jason duking it out while this song plays.



But, this C.D. comes with a major draw back. According to the tracklisting, 13 songs (14, if you count "Bombshell") were previously unreleased. This seems to say it's a collection of rare songs and b-sides. Unfortunatly, it is not. Seven of the "previously unreleased songs" (tracks 1,2,3,4,8 & 15) were released again, on the band's own C.D., later in the year. Plus, even though "Out of My Way" and "Inside the Cynic" weren't on Seether or Stone Sour's original C.D., both bands later re-released their album with extra tracks, and these tracks they contributed to this soundtrack were included. So, if you're planning to buy the C.D.s from some these bands on here, you'll end up owning some of their songs twice.



Only tracks 5,6,9,10,12 & 16 are the true b-sides and rarities that you can't find anywhere else. If you're a big fan of those bands, you may want to get this soundtrack just for those songs."
