CD Reviews

This CD is great! Pleasing for children and adults alike

"This CD is fantastic! Emilio Delgado, or better known simply as "Luis" from Sesame Street, is the narrator of this adventure across the music of several Latin American countries. Luis introduces each song, first in English and then in Spanish, with a great enthusiasm and appreciation for the music. This CD contains 12 songs, each with a separate style, ranging from traditional to contemporary. The rich sounds in the melodies and the dynamic rhythms are pleasing for children and adults alike. Right away you'll start clapping your hands and shaking your head to the music, wishing that you could reach out and touch the instruments like the maracas and charangos. The diverse arrangements, lyrics, and instruments utilized allows us to appreciate the richness of Latin American music. Songs are sung by adults and children alike, often sharing a melody between them. Lyrics to all the songs are included, both in English and in Spanish. The CD is a great introduction to Latin American music. Most songs are almost entirely in Spanish, except "Salaque", which is in Spanish and Quechua. Add this CD to your collection and enjoy!!"
A Disappointment

"I have been very disappointed with this album. The biggest problem is the introductory material. Each track starts with an introduction, first in English and then in Spanish. While it is nice to know something about the songs, it is a long span of talking before each track and it quickly (like, the second time through) becomes very irritating having to wait for the end of the intro to hear each song. If they had only made the introductions into separate tracks it would have been much better-- you could skip over the intros when you didn't want to hear them. The other problem is a matter of personal taste-- after wading through the intro material, most of the songs are just not appealing to me. Yes, there are some fun instruments and unusual sounds, but for the most part the songs themselves just don't move me. For kids Spanish songs, I much prefer the Sesame Street "Fiesta Songs!" album and the Jose-Luis Orozco albums (especially "Diez Deditos")."
For 8 years and under it is probably a 3 star

"I got it for my 5 year old child who is learning Spanish. quite enjoyable to listen to but hard to learn from as far as I can tell. Get something else (like "Siesta, Fiesta") if you want to learn songs with your young child."
