CD Reviews

These Female Blues Singers tell it like it is!

(4 out of 5 stars)

"This is a good cd. If you wanna know and hear some well-known Blues singers of the 1920s. You can hear the gritty sounds of the Female Blues singers, these female singers really will move you, they had a way of making you feel what they was singing. You think these rappers are hardcore, these women are telling like it is but without the cursing. These Blues singers aren't the best but if you ever wondered who were some other Blues singers besides Bessie Smith, Ethel Waters, and Ma Rainey this is it. The only singer who sounds good is Alice Clinton, who is none other then the great, forgotten Nina Mae McKinney, famed singer, dancer, and actress. She either used another name or filled in for someone. But if your feeling Blue put this on, and put tha rap away. The listening sound isn't so great, because maybe the records weren't kept up or they probably weren't recorded right in the beginning. But still great cd. Great Historic stuff for Music Historians."
