Japanese Jazz or Jazz from Japan

""Three Blind Mice" or the TBM label was created in 1970 to promote Japanese Jazz. This CD is part one of what I believe is 3 volumes, or maybe I should write: I have 3 volumes. The recordings are either from Japanese original Jazz works or from Japanese Jazz groups playing Jazz standards. Most of the time if someone didn't tell you that the music came from Japan, you would think it came from America. Ever so often a song may sound a little odd with an oriental flair, as for example song #3 "Midnight Sunrise " by Tatsuya Takahashi & Tokyo Union, the percussion background is nothing like I heard before. Then song #4 is a Disney Jazz classic "The Lady is a Tramp" & song #5 is "La Fiesta" by Chick Corea but it sounds more like the Maynard Ferguson version. I should know because I use to play the trumpet solo in high school. Yes, there is Jazz music all over the map on this CD, let alone Japan. Good luck in trying to find the other volumes.
