"There have been many wonderful jazz concerts recorded at Carnegie Hall. My collection is full of them -- Benny Goodman, Billie Holliday with Count Basie and Sarah Vaughan, Duke Ellington, Chick Corea, Woody Herman, Gerry Mulligan and Chet Baker.....to name a few. This album goes right up near the top. Period. It's a splendid mix of solos, vocals, a big band led by Jon Faddis, and more than a few good licks by jazz-buff and empresario Clint Eastwood. There's a freshness and enjoyment that is enhanced by fine sound and presence.New York seems to be the center of a jazz renaissance. Some of it is retrospective and in that regard maybe this album is a bit neo-classical in form. But if like me, you want to introduce jazz to friends or take heart in some creative drive that that pumps much-needed life into the genre, run out and buy this."
A "must have" for serious fans of jazz.
