Ultra continues to pump out mediocre, repetitive releases...

"Why would Ultra release two compilations just a few weeks apart and include duplicate songs on them??? Starting with track 1, we get the Jody den Broeder mix of Rihanna's hard, which appeared on Ultra Weekend 6. Here, it runs a minute longer, but it's still just a little longer than 4 minutes long and actually mixes out completely at about the 3:50 mark to bring in the next track, so the indexing should have been adjusted on the CD We get other repeats: Kim Sozzi's Secret Love (stellar project mix)--also on Ultra Weekend 6. Deadmaus's Ghosts n Stuff--already on SEVERAL other compilations, including Ultra Weekend 6. Chicane vs. Natasha Bedingfield? This awesome trance track is already on Ultra Weekend 6 and runs over 7 minutes long...the way it SHOULD instead of the mere 4 minutes on here. If you want dedicated buyers to support all your release, why not leave these songs OFF yet another compilation and give us longer lengths of a couple of less tracks???



Track 2 gives us less than 4 minutes of a ralphi rosario mix, one of the most popular remixers of the past two decade whose mixes are usually about 10 minutes long and all about the build up and drama....although, this song by School Gyrls is pure pop mixed into a radio friendly dance song, so 4 minutes of it will suffice. But what comes next is a HUGE missed opportunity by Ultra. Considering not one, but TWO remix CDs of songs from Mariah Carey's last album were scraped, to have any remix show up on this CD is huge, and to have it mixed by dance mix master Jason Nevins is even better, so what does Ultra do? They give us less than 4 minutes of the mix!!! It's an awesome, moody club mix, too. Sure would have liked to have at least 5 minutes of it. Same goes for the huge Taio Cruz hit Break Your Heart mixed by Wideboys--little more than 4 minutes here. Finally there's good news at track 6 with a near six minute Chew Fu mix of a song featuring Jason Derulo. Awesome. Then another big mixer, Dave Aude, is given less than 4 minutes of disc space with Mr. Hudson's "Supernova". The remix of the cover version of Peter Schilling 80s classic "Major Tom" by Shiny Toy Guns gets an absolutely HORRENDOUS mix here that basically puts the vocals into some sort of horrible, discordant minor key. Blech. The hot and thumping eletro hip hop club mix of Ludacris is a welcome treat at almost 5 minutes. Utada's "Dirty Desire" remixed by Mike Rizzo gets over 5 minutes here, which is awesome considering there's no CD single for this hot track--but should be considering there are so many hot mixes of this song. The Inna track "Love" is some good stuff, and I'm glad they didn't simply give us "Hot" again. Robbie Rivera teams up with Fast Eddie for the pretty cheesy electro rap record "sip my drink." The Tiesto track sounds like girl pop punk mixed into a dance track, and the final track is okay--it's catchy, with male and female vocals, but nothing mind blowing.



I guess the Just Dance serious is supposed to be the more straightforward `mainstream' single disc for casual listeners, but in my opinion, at this horrible time for the music industry, casual listeners aren't buying many CDs, simply downloading random tracks they like, so Ultra should really dedicate itself to its dedicated, hardcore audience that still wants dance music on CD.
