Synopsis

Amazon.com
Aside from the ubiquitous presence of a Fatboy Slim track ("Praise You") and the Verve's yesteryear anthem of choice, "Bittersweet Symphony," the cuts on this teensploitation-influenced compilation are hardly cut-out bin oatmeal. Fans restless to sample fresh Blur material will bask in the moody glow of "Coffee & TV," while other tracks offer some lesser-known but tasty dance-floor modernists such as Faithless and Kristen Barry. This is after-hours room service of taunting rock and acerbic ballads, and it highly complements the film's at-odds crew of mean-spirited teen sirens and endangered Cinderella figures, all of whom would rather watch the beautiful people than join their rat race. --Kristy Ojala

AWESOME, AWESOME SOUNDTRACK!!

"This movie is my 2nd favorite movie of all time (following Jawbreaker), and I really wanted the soundtrack because of some of the songs in the movie I liked, so I finally bought it, and I love it, it's awesome. Here's my review of all the songs, and where they play in the movie:1.) "Every You Every Me" by Placebo-I think this is my 2nd favorite song on the soundtrack, it's really good, they're a talented band. This song obviously plays in the very beginning when it shows Sebastian off on his way to therapy.2.) "Praise You" by Fatboy Slim-This song is great, I love it. Who dosen't? This song plays when Annette and Sebastian are in the car driving home from the old folks home.3.) "Coffee and TV" by Blur-This is a really really good song, I love it. It plays at the infamous kissing scene between Kathryn and Cecile.4.) "Bedroom Dancing" by Day One-This is a good song, a good dancing song. This plays after Sebastian and Cecile...ummm....you know.5.) "Colorblind" by Counting Crows-This is a good, slow song to listen to if you're stressed out, at least that's what I think. This plays when Sebastian goes to the train station to see Annette again and they end you...well...you know6.) "Ordinary Life" by Kristen Barry-This is my favorite song on the CD, it's a really good song, she's a talented singer, and I love it! This plays when Annette goes into the pool room to go talk to Sebastian.7.) "Comin' Up From Behind" by Marcy Playground-This is a good song, I like Marcy Playground, they're really good. This plays when Sebastian goes to Blaine's house to talk to Greg.8.) "Secretly" by Skunk Anansie-I don't like this song, at all. No offense to the people who like it, but I find it annoying, the singer really irritates me. This song plays at the ending credits.9.) "This Love" by Craig Armstrong and Elizabeth Fraser-Very good, slow, love song. It's kind of sad in a way, but very good. This plays when Sebastian is either taking a walk or when it shows Annette reading his journal.10.) "You Could Make a Killing" by Aimee Mann-Very very good song, I never knew who good a singer Aimee Mann was, but I really like her. This song plays when Annette is reading Sebastian's journal and he's walking downtown.11.) "Addictive" by Faithless-This song kinda freaked me out at first with the line "I have a demon for a wife.." but then I ended up liking it. I can't remember where this song plays in the movie, but I remember hearing it in there.12.) "Trip On Love" by Abra Moore-This is a good song, the singer has a cute voice. This plays when Cecile sneaks over to Sebastian's to write Ronald a letter.13.) "You Blew Me Off" by Bare Jr.-This is such an awesome song, I really like it. This plays when it Sebastian is at Blain'es house when Sebastian is talking about Annette.14.) "Bittersweet Symphony" by The Verve-Very, Very, Very good song!! I love it, it's just such an instant classic. This plays at the end after everyone hates Kathryn.Well...There's my review of the Cruel Intentions soundtrack. If you haven't bought it, you really should, but more importantly, see the movie first!"

"Possibly the best soundtrack in history. One day, as I was reading 'The Crimson Petal and the White' I thought, what would be a soundtrack bound to have sexy, fun songs that I can just listen to when I want?It didn't take me long to think, 'Cruel Intentions', of course. So I went to my KaZaa, booted it up, and looked up the movie. The first song that jumped out at me was 'Comin' Up From Behind' by Marcy Playground - I love the song 'Sex and Candy', so I downloaded it right away.WOW.It was an amazing, fun, sexy song, just what I wanted, and to this day one of my favorite. Out of 10, I'd give it a 20. I love that song. So I immediately bought the CD and, wow. The entire album just blew me away.1. Every Me Every You by Placebo
This song really, honestly does set the mood for the whole CD, and gawd, is it fun to sing along to. One of the standout tracks on the album, and that is saying something. I honestly put this on repeat and listened to it for an hour straight when I first heard it. 2. Praise You - Fatboy Slim
Oh, I remembered this song. Hard not to. Whether not not you can listen to it depends upon whether or not you suffocate under techno and whether you're in the mood to be happy for not. I think it's a lot of fun, but sometimes I just can't listen to it. Some people have told me it's their favorite off of the album, so I'll leave you to your own judgement on this one.3. Coffee and TV - Blur
Lovely. Simply lovely. This is the type of song you can just stick in your CD player and relax to. It's not as upbeat as some others, but it really doesn't have to be.4. Bedroom Dancing - Day One
The lyrics to this song are SO AWESOME. Oh wow. When I first heard it, they were so cool, I was laughing out of sheer awe. It's very tongue-in-cheek and sexy, and I simply adore it. All of my friends seem to favor this song - I don't blame them.5. Colorblind - Counting Crows
Sad, slow, and beautiful. I plan to, at some point, find a karaoke version of this song (or a piano piece for it) and perform it. It's lovely, and the fact that it's sad doesn't actually offset it from the album at all. This is a perfect song for a rainy day.6. Ordinary Life - Kristen Barry
I don't listen to this song as often as some others, but I do love it. It's got lovely lyrics and lovely instruments, and I absolutely LOVE the sound of her voice. It's mellow, compared to some of the others, and not the best song, but it's fun nevertheless.7. Comin' Up From Behind - Marcy Playground
I could go on for hours about how much I love this song. The guitar at the beginning and the harmonies and the LYRICS, oh my God. I adore this song. Possibly my favorite song. YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THIS SONG.8. Secretly - Skunk Anansie
I still don't know if that's a guy or a girl singing, and the lyrics 'You had to do some one else' always make me smirk, but in a good way. I don't always listen to this song because I don't like the guitar solo, but the rest of it isn't bad at all.9. This Love - Craig Armstrong
Beautiful, even if she says 'love' a frightening amount of times. It's a happy love song, not like the rest of them, and I actually normally skip over it for that reason. I'm not a 'happy love song' person, especially since it's the saddest sounding happy love song I've ever heard. It makes me feel nostalgic, and I don't like nostalgia, but I won't deny that it is very beautiful, and there's a high chane that YOU might love it.10. You Could Make a Killing - Aimee Mann
This song is Sebastian's theme. It really is. It makes me smile. I'm not going to say much about it, just that you should really listen to this song, because it will make you smile. I promise.11. Addictive - Faithless
THE MOST FUN SONG. EVER. Oh wow. Other people have said they don't like this song, but I LOVE it. It's more chanting than singing, so it's really fun to chant along with, especially since the words just flow off of your lips like rain. I put this one repeat often as well.12. Trip On Love - Abra Moore
This girl's voice creeps me out. Seriously. But the lyrics are fun to quote and stick on banners and stuff, so I listen to it for inspiration.13. You Blew Me Off - Bare Jr.
This song makes me laugh more than any of the others. I mean, come on; "You blew me off and turned me OOOOOOOON!!!!" Yeah. But nevertheless, I like to listen to it because, what can I say, I love to laugh, and this song does it for me. It's really fun.14. Bitter Sweet Symphony - The Verve
I don't listen to this song for one very basic reason: The violin riff gets stuck in my head ever. time. I. listen. to. it. But it is a really great song, so if I'm brave and prepared to get something else stuck in my immediately afterwards so it doesn't annoy me, I'll listen to it :-PI really do hope you buy this soundtrack. It's an amazing listen, and you would do good to have it.Love,
~*Charlotte"

"After seeing the movie (which I love), I wanted to buy the soundtrack because of the Counting Crow's song, "colorblind", and the Verve pipe's "bitter sweet symphony". But, after listening to the whole soundtrack from beginning to end, I was amazed at how every song was great. My personal favorites on the cd are "every you and every me", which is played during the movie's opening credits, "colorblind" (which is my absolute favorite), and "this love", which even though is very long (over 7 minutes), i never get tired of because of the gorgeous tune and haunting vocals. But all in all, every song is amazing. Even the quirky "bedroom dancing", which is just basically a guy talking about dancing, grows on you. If you don't already have this cd, it is a must in your collection."
