"If your looking for the original version of "Kim the Waitress" by the Green Pajamas, you have come to the right place. There are also a couple of previously unreleased PJ's tracks here & another of my favs "Peppermint Stick."
You may not have heard of many of the other bands on this massive 2 cd collection, but they are no less important than the ones you have heard. I grew up in Seattle & I couldn't believe this was happenning in my own backyard. It was an incestuous music scene & the ones you have heard of were also involved with the ones you haven't heard of. On any given weekend in Seattle, in the 80's, you could see & hear any number of great musicians & some of them are on "It Crawled From The Basement." The Life, The Walkabouts, The Green Pajamas, Slam Suzzane, The Fastbacks, Capping Day & Joey Kline's Prudence Dredge are only a few of the bands I would pay my hard earned cash to see. The music & the talent do the talking here & all things were possible. Try some of the samples above.
Having lived through this vital & creative time of Seattle's music scene, this compilation is a must for anyone who is curious about what made it magic. This is a piece of that scene before the world saw the town as grunge. It's never sounded better!
