Taste of Joy
Erica Anderson | Minneapolis, MN | 10/19/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I am always in a neverending search for great music, especially music that embraces traditional world music and modern dance beats which as a fan, I refer to as "lifestyle" compilations. This term "lifestyle" is used to describe this type of music which can be both listened to as background music for yoga and other forms of meditation or just to enjoy at the home or office, like I do. The George V Records has managed to release high quality lifestyle compilations mixed by various djs with and without the Buddha Bar imprint. I am a big fan of the compilation mixed cds under the Buddha Bar imprint, namely "Buddha Bar" and now "Chill Out in Paris" series. My first exposure to the Buddha Bar series was with the first "Living Theater Vol.1" mixed by Joseph Baldassare, and then the second "Chill Out in Paris" (mixed by Dave Visan). I didn't really get into the Buddha Bar-related series until I heard the fifth "Buddha Bar" compilation earlier this year and that is when I just fell in love with the positivie energy the music exhudes. I just bought "Chill Out in Paris 3" today when I came across the unibox at a local record store. This is the only time I would be willing to shell out more than $20 for a cd. I know for sure that any cd with the Buddha Bar imprint it is going to be high quality music and well worth the money. While "Barlotti" embraces latin music, "Buddha Bar" is influenced by Asian music, the "Chill Out in Paris" series is more influenced by traditional Middle Eastern music. The results is always amazing. If I thought "Chill Out in Paris 2" was excellent, then "Chill Out in Paris 3" is magnificent. Dave Visan does a marvelous job at mixing and making sure the songs flows cohesively together (unlike Dave Waxman and the cheesy, predictable "Ultra Chilled" series). I thought I was in heaven when I was listeng to this 2-cd mixed compilation. Like with most Buddha Bar-related lifestyle compilations, "Chill Out in Paris 3" is split into two discs. The first disc is called "Fusion". It is the chill out, relaxing disc that would be ideal to listen to while having a cocktail. Disc 2 is "Confusion" which the music picks up the pace and has more of a uptempo beat to the music. The perfect club music to dance to. Both cds are exceptional and I just loved them with an immense passion. There are 30 songs overall, 15 songs on each disc, an hour's worth of airtime. Listening to "Chill Out in Paris 3" makes me feel like I am in a Parisian nightclub, sipping on a cosmopolitan. I wish there were more cds like "Chill Out in Paris" and less of "Ultra Chilled". I will never see any of the songs that Dave Visan picks out on other chill out compilations and I find that very refreshing."
World Beats!

"Just bought this album and can't get enough of it. It's a beautiful collection of world grooves and chilled electronic beats. A must. I especially love Gia [Said Mrad Remix] by Despina Vandi. I have the single to Gia and this remix is not on it. Said Mrad has remixed it to sound more Middle Eastern than some of the other remixers for Gia. I also love Mariguana Cha Cha Cha by Stefi Akos. What a wonderful track. Totally upbeat, fun and groovy! I think she is singing in Hungarian but not totally sure. It's a great though. Ya Ghayeb by Fadl Shaker is another wonderful song on this collection. It's Arabic and he's from Egypt I believe. It's a mellow song that kicks off the "Confusion" CD. I love it. Anyway all of the tracks on here are great. Definitely check it out.

"I'd like first to correct Mr. Seb Jarakian "beatzblog.com" ... Fadel Shaker is Lebanese, Not Egyptian ..

This is the best volume of the series (even surpasses Volume 4) .. HIGHLY Recommended ...."
