Well, I haven't quite got all the lyrics doped out yet, but the music is pleasant enough, in a relatively quiet way. The thematic material of the songs is a bit different than the usual Irish songs that we hear all the time ... it seems almost to be a collection of American Country-Western type songs, except for the lack of mention of the mother in jail for shootin' paw, the good ol' dawg and the busted-down truck. As I say, I haven't got the lyrics down pat yet, and all the Nashville sonic cliches are missing, so I might be quite off the mark here. It's pleasant to listen to, and I plan to listen some more." |
