CD ReviewsUnder the big bright yellow sun N. P. Stathoulopoulos | Brooklyn, NY | 02/11/2004 (4 out of 5 stars) "This is a decent disc that doesn't fully evoke the horror and nightmares produced by this film. Watching Bully is like staring into an abyss, disturbing but impossible to stop watching. The film had a lot of music, but this disc omits about half of it, no doubt due to budget constraints (getting Dr. Dre on a soundtrack is likely a pricey deal, for instance). As expected, it will disappoint those looking for certain tracks, like the rap song played during the brilliant intro to Derrick Kaufman and his pathetic gang of pre-teen stereo snatchers (Shawty's 'Who You Callin Country?')The predominant music in the film is gangsta rap, a realistic soundtrack for a film about disaffected, white, suburban youths. But other elements have their place as well: the chill-out trip-hop of Tricky or Fatboy Slim's excellent Song for Shelter (Talking 'Bout My Baby), an 11-minute piece that builds and builds during the final sequence of the film with the faint vocal 'under the big bright yellow sun!'The sparse score by Thurston Moore is represented here by four tracks that include dialogue, spread out evenly across the disc. This is definitely a soundtrack that benefits from dialogue snips if only to hint at the disturbing film. It's heavy on gangsta rap, but there's some variety, and the disc is a good companion to the film, albeit incomplete." Perfect soundtrack for the movie Amy Lynn | Pennsylvania United States | 04/25/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "This soundtrack is so cool. it's got alot of the best rap songs ive heard in awhile and this soundtrack is definetly worth the money. i love how they took parts of the movie and put it in with this soundtrack. some of the best songs on the soundtrack are odb's last call and fatboy slim's song for shelter and jt money's ( who dat). the soundtrack for the movie goes so good with it, this is cool to listen to with your friends, its a really good soundtrack and the movie is good too so i suggest both."
