"This is one of my favorite Trance/Goa Compilations. BUT only for a few tracks. However these tracks are so good I feel it justifies the purchase & some of the less-excellent tracks. Here's my run-down disc by disc.
CD 1
It has a few very memorable tracks on it most notably Track 2: `Funfar' by "O-Men" with a fantastically beaty & jumpy loop with excellent squiggly burps & claps accompanying it 9/10. Then you have the next track Track 3: `Ant Invasion' by "Planet Ben" which is one of my top ten favorite goa tracks ever. If you thought the previous track was infectious then you're in for a treat on this one. The lead in really gives a sci-fi feel for the title of piece (re: ants) & it's a really well thought out track with alien ant-like chatterings bursting through the rhythm every now and then as it beats and bubbles it's way to a big beaty hook-you-in loop with wonderful embellishments & percussive elements. The track is over 12 minute's long but it's really excellently put together & never leaves you bored which unfortunately a few of the other tracks on the CD do 10/10. The 1st Track: `Accidental Sadhu' by "Saafi Brother's" is excellent with much monk-like chanting accompanying a nice energetic track 9/10. Unfortunately the last 3 tracks on the 1st CD are somewhat lack-luster - (Say 6.5/10) for my liking and I usually end up using the program option on my CD player to play just the 1st 3 tracks.
CD 2
Track 1: `Laughing Gas' (on the other-side mix) by "Juno Reactor" is a nice old-school track 7/10
Track 2: `noos-eleap' by "Noosphere" is a rather overly-repetitive track with not much going for it 4/10
Track 3: `Spawn' by "Sandman" is quite an interesting track with much high pitched squeaking and tripping-outedness (pardon my English) 7/10
Track 4: `Auscultation' by "Antidote" - merely o.k. Nothing memorable 5/10
Track 5: `Memory Foam' by "Cwithe' - Ditto Track 4 5/10 (not much to say really)
Track 6: `Untitled' by "Total Eclipse" is this CD's one saving grace I think. They decided to opt for a slower tempo here and it works. Sometimes less BPM can be a good thing for all you speed freak 160 BPM Monster's out there. A nice build up with a good mix it saved this CD for me - 8/10.
To sum up. I gave this CD (4) Stars mainly for 3 excellent tracks & they are tracks# 1, 2 & 3 of the 1st CD. You may like some of the other's but I found them to be a mixed bunch. If you can get it cheap it's worth it for the 1st 3."
