CD ReviewsSwing treasures restored 04/07/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "Imagine a collection of great paintings sitting in a private collection for 50 years and then suddenly getting displayed in a major museum show. This reissue from Blue Note had a similar impact on me. Hearing some of the best swing musicians of the forties play in small, intimate, relaxed, beautifully recorded sessions was a thrilling experience. The Jimmy Hamilton sessions in particular are very creative, and there is great ensemble teamwork throughout. The entire CD is an ear-opening educational masterpiece."
