Amazon.comDJ Susan Morabito spins a set of high-energy music for high people on this disc. The Black Party is named for one of the marathon "circuit parties" that cater to a crowd of gay men with shared interests in bodybuilding and practical applications of chemistry. Kicking it off are vocal numbers from Nylon Moon and Gloworm (who also appeared on the Circuit Party Spins compilation along with Secret Life and Bumpin' K.). Things get more amorphous with the fine piano flip-out of Freakyman's "Discobug," and as the set wears on, Morabito delivers the frenzied buildups and explosive releases right on schedule. Throughout, things are as light as air (and also light as Air)--it sounds like one of the first sets of the night, before the, um, atmosphere kicks in and the DJ starts spinning darker and sexier stuff. A dollar from the sale of each album goes to LIFEbeat, a music-industry AIDS resource and awareness organization. --John Sanchez
