"This is in fact one of the best compilations out there on CD for the true disco stuff that was actualy played in the discos. Not that fake Bee Gees, pop radio, mainstream image of what disco was! Unfortunatly, every track on this set are special edited versions and original rare 7'' versions. Also, this disc is long out of print. Most of everything on here was mastered from vinyl, not the original master tapes as it states cause well..you can hear it clear on quite a few tracks and also, alot of the "original masters" to these tracks are long lost in a vault somewhere and some no longer even exsisting. I also recomend the vol. 2 of this 3 vol series as it as well has a good collection of the real stuff with a few unusual tracks thrown in. If your just starting to learn about what the true meaning of disco was and what people actualy were dancing to in the clubs back in the day..this CD is a good introduction to the genre. I will say to stay away from vol. 1 if your wanting the good stuff. Dont know what they were thinkin with vol 1 but its nothing but a collection of common mainstream pop stuff with a few real ones thrown in and..yes...80s dance hits! Makes no sence LOL...so avoid vol 1. The cover pictured in this CD on amazon is vol 1 and not the vol im reviewing. But the tracks are correct. So listen to the samples..and you'll get a good taste :)"
