"Although you can't tell from Amazon's website, the CD jacket contains this disclaimer: "These albums may contain re-recorded tracks by the original artists. Tracks featuring groups may not include all the original members." To be specific, *ALL* the tracks are re-takes - bad re-takes. Take note that Amazon's return policy disallows returned CDs after the plastic wrapping has been removed. If you buy this one, you're stuck with it.
A lesson to read the reviews first, and never shop at Amazon.com."

BEST OF THE 70"S ----- NOT!!

"About a month ago, I visited this website looking for a song that I fell in love with as a teenager or even younger. The song is My Maria by BW Stevenson. I am a big music fan and an even bigger music collector. While looking the for this song, I ran accross Best of the 70's which contained a lot of the songs I grew up listening to. I was so excited to order it and could not wait to get it. My only disappointment at the time was that I had to wait a month for its arrival. When it finally got here, as I started to play various songs, especially My Maria, they are not the original recordings. While they are the original artists, it sounded to me like the songs had been re-recorded. I have to admit I was extremely angry because this is not what I thought I had ordered. To even rate this CD with one star is far too generous."

The fast track to dissapointment

"I am shocked and amazed that Amazon would even offer this. This set is a blight to the music industry. Best of the 70's is a collection of bad takes pressed onto CD and pawned off on the
unsuspecting public. Yes, they are the original songs, but try to image a reunion tour of 70's artists who haven't played or performed their 'Hits' in 20 years. This set sounds like it was cut at their rehearsals. If you loved the music of the 70's you will truly abhor this collection. If ANY of these had been released in place of the original they would never have charted, much less been hits. I rated this with one star because it was the lowest rating the system will allow. If you could post negative scores I could give you an honest appraisal. Did I pay too much? You could not pay me to keep 1 of these songs in my collection, much less 5 CD's worth. I would not (will not) keep these CD's to use as coasters. I may offer them to my son for targets to use with his air pistols but only if he promises to miss the hole in the center!"
