"This is one of the myriad greatest hits collections out there featuring pop music. And it is a pretty good selection.
First, the groups--the Everly Brothers, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Bill Haley and the Comets, Freddy Cannon, the Crew Cuts, the Champs, the Crickets, Fabian, and Jerry Lee Lewis, among others.
Second, some great songs (and some lesser ones, as well). Chuck Berry rocks with "Johnny B. Goode" ("Go, Johnny, go, go"). Then there is Little Richard, wailing his classic "Good Golly Miss Molly." One of the first pop rock and roll classics shows up on this CD--Bill Haley and the Comets singing "Rock around the Clock." "Life is but a dream, Sh-Boom, sh-Boom" is sung by the Crew Cuts. The Champs' goofy classic, "Tequila," is here as well. The Killer, Jerry Lee Lewis, sings one of his all time classics--"Whole lotta' shakin' goin' on" ("Shake, baby, shake").
Anyhow, if you enjoy the music of the 1950s--or want to learn more about that era--this is pretty satisfying for what it is. There are some tunes that, in my view, don't really belong in the same class as the songs already mentioned, but that is part for such collections. All in all, a good addition to one's pop music library.
