"By the time I got this collection, I was no longer a Bollywood beginner. However, only 3 of these songs were reproduced on the other collections I have, and this is by far the best value on the market. The first disc is stellar, incredible, full of classics which you will love instantly. The second disc is very funky, with breakbeats, sound effects, and hot dirty grooves. The third disc is my least favourite, though still full of great moments - it has a decidedly '90's slant to it, sounding quite a bit like American sountrack pieces from the same period. Overall, very very highly recommended, especially for the first two discs."
Brilliant!

"Having had no clue about Bollywwod music I bought this on a whim and I LOVE IT! It made me go out on a shopping spree on amazon trying to find more CD's like it.
If you are the least bit adventurous and open minded when it comes to music, when you are prepared to try to sing along - in Hindi!, then by any means, buy this compilation.
It opened up a whole new world for me."
Good Selection of Songs from Hindi Films

"Bollywood is the popular term applied to Hindi films. The term came to existence sometime in the 1990s and has became a catch-all phrase for all Hindi films.
The selection in this 3-set disc spans about 40 odd years of Hindi songs and features a range of artists like Mohammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, etc etc. The selection of the songs give us a good sample of Hindi songs, but whoever produced this album forgot to add some all time favorite songs from Shammi Kapoor's film "Tesri Manzil," the song "Monica" from Caravan or any of the numbers from "Aradhana."
I am not sure how they came up the title "Beginner's Guide to Bollywood," by omitting some "must-have" songs, but if you overlook this oversight the selection of songs is a pretty good one."

"this collection beats all this western crap on the radio. these singers (asha bohsle, mohommad rafi, lata...) offer a very wide spectrum of vocals and instrumentation not commonly found in today's digitally enhanced pop junk. the cd makes you dance and i find it quite hilarious too, which is a good thing. it's absolutely fabulous."
