"If you know the box set of garage bands "Nuggets," you should familiarize yourself with this stuff. Decca released its back catelogue of singles, mostly failed but many interesting, in this series. I grew up Stateside, so I knew only the names that showed up regularly in Melody Maker--Gram Bond, Small Faces, Amen Corner, Chris Farlowe. It's the second stringers that are fun to listen to for the first time--The Quik, The Hipster Image, Timebox, The Outer Limits, The Habits, the list goes on for a total of 25 tracks, any of which could have resulted in 15 minutes of fame. Great listening."
