Solid Discs of Mature House Make "Mimosa" Worth a Spin.

""Mimosa" is the latest of the Bargrooves series, offering two mixed discs of mature house for the sophisticated listener. Disc 1, mixed by Ben Sowton, is the better of the two (although both discs are very good). Here, we get tasty numbers like the jazzy "The Journey" by George Mena and Frankie Estevez, while other highlights include "Beautiful You" by Dealer's Choice featuring Azeem and Joey Youngman's "I Like It." This is one of the best mixes I've heard on any house compilation, and it's enough to warrant a purchase. Disc 2 is mixed by the Groove Junkies and has the same soulful feel, but unlike Disc 1, it has more vocals and is the more accessible of the two. Some of the better selections are SUMO's "Supra Sumo," Groove Junkies' own "Sunshine" and "Inside My Soul." The Groove Junkies did an admirable job mixing this disc, but I think Sowton's disc has more of an edge that appeals to me. Still, "Mimosa" is a worthy collection of house jams that rises above the predictable and formulaic."
Really, 5 stars is just wouldn't cut this.

"i don't know much of technical point of this cd but one thing for sure of me is that Mimosa certainly exceeded Terreza and Terreza was great cds too. If you are aware of your DEEP HOUSE addiction, this is your ultimate pure hit. Please be careful not overdose on this one. As for people who didn't like this set very much: good for you!! You are not deep house addict, so why don't you look for some Frankie Bones' Factory 101 or something, kids."
Nice!

"This is a nice deep house production. If you like this, check out the first full length CD for producer Quentin Allen as Karu. There are other 12" releases on Silver Network, Dadhouse, Winding Road, Mimosa & Smooth Agent. This CD is a very consistant production with a good blend of jazz, hip-hop, techno, neo-soul, and deep house all together. The beats are very crisp and sound good in the car, the house or the club. Some songs tastefully use vocal snippets to add flavor. There is even a track featuring Warren Harris aka Hanna (Shadow Records, Silver Network, Flat & Round, Freerange). If you want good quality deep house, this CD is for you."
