"This is the famous anthology that Donn Pohren raves on about in his books, the one that Perico del Lunar organised and recorded in 1952 and which was one of the most important factors in the revival of interest in Flamenco. Specifically intended to showcase as many styles as possible, the album features some of the giants of the century, such as Bernardo de los Lobitos, Niño de Almadén, Jarrito, Pericón de Cádiz, Pepe de la Matrona and Rafael Romero (although I must admit I can't get as worked up about the last-named as some people seem to). All are accompanied with great skill and deceptive simplicity by Perico.
Those who have been weaned on modern Flamenco may find this TOO simple, at first. But take your time, and listen.
