"I like getting CD's from indie labels who put their butts on the line for the new sound of the 50's Rockabilly and Rock n' Roll. Its hit and miss though, some of the labels have out right awful music and others have a golden roster of rebels and spontaneous individualism. Others may have artists both good and bad. This CD is one of them. You probably wonder why I give 3, 4 or 5 star reviews alot of the time its because I make sure to research and listen to what I want before purchasing the item unless somebody gives me a CD for a gift that is garbage. This CD is one that is a hit and a miss. Yes there is good tracks like Sparkle Moore a awesome female Rockabilly that is rare during those times. She does the awesome songs "Rock-A-Bop" and "Killer". The best of hers is "Flower of my Heart" a errie song with strange singing. "Making Love with my Baby" by Richard Turley is a great song about a guy getting what we'd call in our modern parlance a "booty call" to go and ease his girl's "pain". "Absolutely" by Bill Parsons is a great story telling song about a guys guitar that is going on the fritz. "That's Showbiz" is a cool song about a kid who is trying to break into the biz but the record company guys always tell him "sorry kid thats showbiz" in a menacing mobster movie type way the guitars are gnarly in this song. "Thats my girl" is a goofy song about annoying love noises couples make to shut out the rest of the world the song's comic effect is right on. The all time best song in lyrical content is "Rubber Dolly" in my research I've seen this song was traditonal but I wonder how much of the song's lyrics had been tweaked. The song is done by Bobby Bare future country artist doing a rock n'roll song about a guy who says if he his mom sees him with a chick she won't buy him a rubber dolly?! Maybe I have gutter mind but did they have rubber inflatable sex dolls in the 50's? Lord only knows. The song sounds nasty.

Then Bobby sings another song called All American boy about a guy who gets famous like Elvis and gets drafted like Elvis. The end of the song is chilling almost a anti-war statement "give me that guitar boy I'll hand you this here rifle you ain't gonna rock n' roll no more." Although this CD has some good cuts on it, over all most of the songs are mediocre to awful. When I turn on the CD I skip to these songs. I wouldn't recommend this to somebody who is just starting to listen Rockabilly but if you are a collecter of the bizarre and rare by all means get this CD."
