Don't Be Impressed By the Quantity of Songs or the Artists

"Afrika Meltdown attempts to compile lots of modern pop from South Africa, a goldmine of great musical styles. Having lived in South Africa, I was familiar with some of the artiists,as well as the M.E.L.T. label, and hoped to add more to my library. I do not recommend this CD, however, if you are searching for quality South African music. Some of the selections are cut short and most are faded in and out which ruins the individual songs. Many cuts are just not worth listening to. I may be a poor attempt to sell itslef. The list of artists, however, includes some great ones, and I encourage you to spend your money on their CDs instead of this one. Busi Mhlongo is represented here twice, one being an awful remix of a great song, "Yehlisan'umoya Ma". Instead, buy her wonderful album, "Urban Zulu" to hear the real version from this incredible vocalist. (Her album, "Babhemu", is also a winner.) Tkzee is represented, but buy their "Halloween" album for a fun kwaito experience. Check out an Amampodo album or a CD by Pops Mohamed, "How Far Have We Come?" "Afrika Meltdown" appears to be a poor attempt for M.E.L.T. to sell itself."
