Most of the cuts are in a laid back mode (certainly they aren't blues in the traditional American sense) but it includes several really great cuts including Rokia Traore, Cesaria Evora and Oumou Sangare, three of the best-loved African women stars of the world music circuit. If you want to check out African music from throughout the continent this is a good selection of great tracks. (Another rough guide I really enjoyed was the Senegal/Gambia collection.)"
