Great old songs

"This CD might not be for everyone, but for fans of long-ago music the way it should be performed, it's wonderful - I play it a lot - it's incredibly catchy and, while very much a product of its time, still demonstrates the quality of those old melodies. "Oh You Beautiful Doll" and "Moonlight Bay" are great old choruses, and I find a whole new side to Al Jolson in these very early records (the 1913 CD has another set of songs.) He's funnier and less "corny" than perhaps people think of him. And I hate to admit it, but the tearjerker "When I was 21 and You Were Sweet 16" did make me cry. Listen to CD's in this series often enough and it's as if those days a hundred years ago aren't quite so far away."
