Spirited, but flawed, tribute

"Tribute albums have become something of a four-letter word in my vocabulary. Very often they cater trite rehashings of familiar songs without even trying to bring anything new or, God forbid, unique to the interpretations of the songs. This one, compiled in Scandinavia, doesn't force me to review my preconceptions in any way. Buy the originals, then the bootlegs, and if you still haven't enough... this one. Most of the versions are similar, but inferior to the originals, often because of mediocre vocal contributions. Even Sweden's Hardcore Superstar sound decidedly less punchy than on their own efforts. Nice idea, lacklustre performance, albeit with their heart in the right place... pretty much sums up the proceedings here."
