Album Description

Long unavailable historic recordings made 1950-1960 by the legendary Carl Schuricht, a lifelong champion of contemporary music. Though known primarily as a conductor of Beethoven, Bruckner and Wagner, Schuricht never missed an opportunity to support music by living composers. This installment in the critically acclaimed Schuricht archives presents some of the music that Schuricht greatly admired, including rarities by Pfitzner, Reger, Reznièek and even Richard Strauss (the overture to his very first opera, Guntram, seldom heard today).
