"Vanity Fare were formed in 1967 and had three British top 20 hits, these being I live for the sun, Early in the morning and Hitchin' a ride. Only Early in the morning cracked the top 10, but Hitchin' a ride became a massive international hit (including top 5 in America) and is what they are best remembered for, even in Britain. This collection includes all their singles (both sides) up to the end of 1970, plus other tracks from their 1968 album. The album tracks include a number of covers which sound as you would expect of Vanity Fare. They stamped their identity on each cover, without doing anything radical. I was surprised to see a cover of Teresa Brewer's Music Music Music, but it suits them well.Vanity Fare recorded for a couple of other labels, but without success, so everything that you need (and much more) can be found here. They were not the most important sixties band by a long way, but they made some nice, upbeat music which is melodic and very enjoyable."

"Late 60's, early 70's.....soft rock British group
came out with two great songs...Early In The Morning,
and Hitchin' A Ride. This CD replaces my worn out LP
with the same 2 songs, and it includes another dozen
or so songs that were popular in England."
