"Distance, the title track of Hikki's second album, was a catchy if somewhat standard, pop tune. Her voice sounded great (as per usual), but there was nothing exceptional about the song; nothing that made it stand out. Luckily, someone had the brilliant idea to slow down the beat, and add hauntingly beautiful piano accompaniment. The result? "Final Distance" is an exquisite ballad that showcases the emotional range of Hikki's singing and sends shivers of delight through the listener. You won't find any vocal acrobatics a la Mariah Carey, but there is honesty to her singing that resonates with the musical soul. The cost of an import CD may seem high, but Final Distance is truly worth it. Besides the melodic ballad version of "Distance", there are 5 more tracks: Track 2 is a wonderful dance mix version; Track 3 is an interesting vocal dub mix; Track 4 is the original album version; Track 5 is the Karaoke album version; and Track 6 is the instrumental version of Final Distance. Her later single, Sakura Drops, has a unique sound, but in terms of emotional intensity, Final Distance is the hands down winner. Even if you've never heard J-Pop before, consider giving this CD a try. It showcases one of the brightest talents of the Japanese music industry in a most beautiful song."

"I was pretty surprised when i first heard that Hikaru was going to release a single by remixing her hit song from her second album,"Distance". So i thought. "how good can it be?" but nevertheless, i bought this single, and i was like " W O W" i was amazed at how beautiful she sounded in "Final Distance".
I sounded beautiful, although a bit sad. but i guess thats how it's suppose to sound?:-)
So i would definetly recommand this to all you Hikki fans."

"Man that voice! Hikki is absolutely amazing. She can sing a fast-moving song or a ballad with equal beauty. I'm a big ballad fan though, which is why I love Final Distance. The emotion she puts in that song makes it ver powerful. But an even better reason to buy this single is to keep alive the memories of those poor kids who were killed in that Osaka school stabbing, whom Hikki made this song for!"

"Hikaru Utada's new single features a slow ballad version, along with 2 remixes, a karaoke version and an instrumental, of the title song from her album, 'DISTANCE'. Although, technically, this isn't really an all new single, it is none the less very good and worth the money. 'FINAL DISTANCE' shows off Hikki's voice spectrum and skill, showing that she's not limited to just singing pop music. Even though 'FINAL DISTANCE' isn't my favorite song, it still has an attractive and good melody to listen to (At the least, it doesn't have an annoying, redundant melody or sounds). The remixes of 'Distance' are also very fun to listen to after the slower beat of the main song. (The m-flo remix is especially good.) Overall, this is an essential for the Hikki fan. It's also good for the Jpop fan who doesn't own Hikki's "DISTANCE"."
