"People with no knowledge about the health and well being of popular personalities should not comment on their health or that they have passed away without being certain about it. Shehnai maestro Bismillah Khan is alive and well. He was recently awarded by the highest civilian award by the Government of India, Bharat Ratna (Indian Jewel) in 2001. Though in his eighties, he regularly practices on his shehnai and occassionally gives public performances. Lastly, I know about him as I hail from his hometown in India (Varanasi)."

"The sorrowful news of the death of the great and legendary Ustad Bismillah Khan is a great shock not only to every Indian citizen or Muslim but to every citizen of any country who feel close to music. There is no replacing of this Maestro who passed away late Aug 2006. Another doyen of Indian classical music and passes away. We can only hope gems like these are cherished."
